Warmer Weather Is Around the Corner
Stuff and Things for Jobseekers and Talent Acquisition Professionals
Hello!
I won’t be sending a newsletter next week, as I will be presenting at TA Week in San Diego! I am excited to get out of the snow and into the warmer weather for a few days. This will actually be the first time that I will be presenting in person! I can’t wait to catch up with old friends and make new ones. And maybe go for a swim.
I decided to start posting my newsletter over on LinkedIn, as well. I have 30,000 followers there and I learned that when you publish your first post, LinkedIn invites every follower to your newsletter! I am almost at 2,000 already!
Feel free to also follow the newsletter on LinkedIn here!
If you have enjoyed this newsletter over the past nine months, please consider becoming a paid subscriber! A payment of $9 a month gets you all newsletters, the archives, and more.
Today’s Edition
There is a lot of content in this week’s newsletter. A lot of articles, a lot of links for TA job postings, a new section highlighting a talent acquisition professional that is looking for work.
A Little About Me
If this your first time here, I wanted to tell you a little bit about my professional background. And if it isn’t your first time here, maybe there are still some new things for you to learn!
I have been in sourcing for 11 years. After struggling to find a solid career out of college, that is what happens when you study Filmmaking and Creative Writing, I eventually found my way into Sourcing, which I didn't even know existed. Since then, I love to help other people find jobs, as I know what that struggle can be like.
I have worked worked in RPO, corporate, and agency backgrounds and have hired in industries like banking, manufacturing, veterinary, dairy, tech, and pharma.
I am a six-time conference speaker, having spoken at Sourcing Summit, Evry1, SourceCon, HRTX, and ATAP's Global TA Day. I am a three-time Dueling Sourcing, an ERE panelist, a podcast guest, and have written blog posts for different sourcing publications.

Let’s Talk About It
When I searched for news articles about talent acquisition for this week, there were two things that kept coming up: AI in the industry and layoffs.
Is AI here to help us with our jobs? To help automate things and give us more time to do the parts of the job that we are passionate about and really need to focus on? Or could it replace us in our roles?
Relatable Content
Companies keep making everyone come back to the office, but Wilson is still working from home just fine.
This is amazing. We could all learn a lot from Tommy Callahan when it comes to success in the sales world.
Time is of this essence. Whether you are a jobseeker going to an interview, a hiring manager interviewing someone for a role, or Madonna performing, being on time is important.
Try this next time are you are down!
If everyone could just tag a hiring manager in the comment section.
A Boolean String:
If you want to watch a movie, there is a good chance that it is playing on one the streaming services that you already pay for. Look up the movie online along with a string like, ("where to watch" OR stream OR free) and you will find where it is streamable and with what service. For example, say I wanted to watch Jumanji, I would search jumanji ("where to watch" OR stream OR free) and now I know that I can watch it if I have Amazon or Sling. And I also know that it will be airing soon on CW.
Talent Acquisition Job Seeker Spotlight
This is a new section where I will be highlighting a fellow talent acquisition professional and why a company should hire them.
I came very close to working with Shally a few years ago and still think about how great of an opportunity that would have been. If you are hiring a leader in TA, Shally is your person. He is a top Sourcer who has spoken at all of the global conferences, blogged for top publications, worked for top tech companies and helped grow startups, and has a strong background in data, leadership, and sourcing. Shally has trained, influenced, guided, and mentored so many of us in the industry and any company would be lucky to have him join!
I will let Shally take it from here:
TA News
To find these articles, I just type in words like: “talent acquisition” or recruiting or recruitment onto Google News. I don’t really use Boolean, I type them in separately. The best thing to type in is “talent acquisition,” because anything about recruiting usually brings you to sports news or army news.
I will continue adding these to the Google Drive!

Tips and Tricks for Talent Acquisition Folks and Job Seekers
Tip #426: If you are a Mac user, check out CleanMyMac, Gemini 2, and GrandPerspective! They help free up space on your computer, clear your RAM, keep your computer and programs up to date, and so much more!
Tip #427: If you have briefly spoken with a recruiter about a role, but it turns out that the role is not a fit, let them know. That way, they won't keep following up with you. Also, the recruiter might just have another role open that does work for you. For example, if the shift isn't a fit, or the location, or you feel the role is too junior, let them know as they might have a role with a different shift, a different area, or a different seniority.
All 427 tips and tricks can be found at the following links:
I have finally separated all of my tips and tricks into three categories: Recruiters, Jobseekers, Random. I will then start putting them into books. One that is for Recruiters, with some random tips and tricks sprinkled in. And one that is for jobseekers, with some random tips and tricks sprinkled in. I believe that I already have enough to maybe write two books for recruiters and one for jobseekers!
Talent Acquisition Positions
If you aren’t following me on LinkedIn, hit that follow button as I often share the TA job postings that others share. These postings that I share come from Martin Ngo, David Marr, Swati Soni, Haley O’Neil, Alexandru Gotoi, Tawfiq Abu-Khajil, Alan Gomes, Amy Packard Checketts, David Valencia.
As a reminder, none of these people are responsible for the jobs, they are just sharing roles they have come across. So, make sure to hit that apply button but remember they can’t help you much past that point. Oh, and make sure to not just use Easy Apply, you must also apply on the company website.
Don’t forget to follow these awesome people on LinkedIn, so you can keep up with their posts. And hit that Share button, so you can help others like you!
Here are some of their posts from the past week:
